Pho Sate (and how I conquered my fear or condiments..sort of)

Ever since I was little I have had an extreme fear of condiments.  The smell of ketchup makes me gag and  the sight of mayo makes me want to run away screaming.  I can’t even touch a mustard bottle with my bare hands.  I am not even exaggerating. All of the meals I eat are plain and that is more than fine with me!

There is one exception to the rule and that is  sate sauce – –  a roasted chili oil that tastes PHENOMENOL in pho.  I  guess you could say it is PHO-nomenol. Zing! A couple drops of it will completely transform a perfectly plain good bowl of pho into a rich, spicy, smokey taste explosion that will make your eyes roll into the back of your head.

To my knowledge, the only place in Northern Virginia where you can try this wonderfuly amazing condiment (and coming from me that says a lot) is Pho Sate in Falls Church.  Beware of the long lines – – for a pho joint this place is always hopping.  In fact whenever I go here I always play the “Who will I see here?” game.  I have never lost this game because Pho Sate is the hangover curing  spot for the Asian socialities  in the DC Metropolitan area.

Check it out and let me know what you think!  I promise you that after trying this you will say goodbye to nasty looking hoison and siracha sauce forever!

And for others wondering about Condiment Phobia, it is a real disorder that thousands of people have to live with every day.  For more information on it please visit:
