1940’s Inspired Look

One of my biggest guilty pleasures is taking a peek into other girls’ makeup bags.  Luckily, I got to indulge myself over the weekend while preparing for my friend Carey’s 1940s inspired wedding.  We did all of the makeup and hair by ourselves and I have to say I am quite pleased with how everything turned out.  Below are a few of the key items that helped us get the right look.

Makeup:

  • Givenchy Phenomen’eyes Mascara – The unique ball shaped brush grips lashes at the root to perfectly shape and curl every individual lash.  This is one of the few mascaras that can actually boost my wimpy non-existent wimpy lashes and in my opinion, totally worth the high price tag.
  • Cover Girl Outlast Lipstain – This lip stain dyed my lips a perfect matte red that stayed put throughout the entire evening.  The pen-like applicator was easy to use and allowed me to reach even the smallest crevices on my lips.  A +  (and you know I hate using drugstore brands!)
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero – Highly pigmented, super soft eye kohl.  I put black powder on top so it would not smear.
  • Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation – Flawless skin, no shine.  Perfect when applied with the #187 brush.  I seriously don’t know what I would do without this in my life.

Hair:

  • Hot rollers
  • Bobby pins
  • Hair spray …lots of it

Thanks to this hair tutorial that I found on StrawberryKoiVintage we were able to successfully do our own hair with little trouble at all.
