Beauty Review: L’Oreal Eversleek Shampoo and Conditioner

A few months ago I decided to begin living a sulfate-free lifestyle.

I would like to say that it is for health reasons but I honestly was more intrigued by the possibility of having a head full of great Jennifer Lopez hair.

Sulfates or “sodium lauryl sulfate” is an active ingredient in almost all shampoo conditioners.  It is used to increase lather and breakdown natural oils, dirt and residue.  It has gotten a bad rap from the media because it has been found to irritate sensitive skin, strip away hair color and may cause cancer.

As a self-proclaimed beauty junkie I have tried many different shampoos both high-end and low-end, sulfate laden and sulfate free.  I am currently using L’Oreal Eversleek Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner and have found that it leaves my hair clean, soft and manageable. Instead of coating my hair with silicone or sulfate the shampoo uses natural sunflower and olive oils to penetrate my coarse thick hair.  The product works well, but I have not found any noticable difference in the health of my hair between using this and other drugstore brands.  This is definitely a good thing in a health conscious economy that still expects quality.  The average price point for this product is $6.99 which is a few more dollars more than other drugstore brand shampoo.  I have looked at other sulfate-free shampoos on the market and this is a great deal compared to the more expensive products out there.

Diagnosis?  Great Hair! Good Deal!  And you may not get cancer at the end of the day!  What do you have to lose?

  1. Oooh I’m so happy to hear about a reasonably priced sulfate free shampoo! I convinced my mom to go sulfate free 6 months ago because of her asthma and with in a couple weeks it was totally under control. Where she use to use her inhaler almost daily, i never hear her talk about using it anymore except when she goes hiking in Tahoe.

    • I have been interested in trying sulfate free shampoos for awhile but I was not able to justify the price that the salon brands were selling it for. I am so glad that L’oreal has come up with a shampoo for the masses!
