Kassie Story #43543665609

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Kassie’s latest obsession is puzzles – – thanks to me!  I picked up this animal puzzle from Melissa & Doug (a purveyor of old-fashioned toys for modern people) and she is absolutely infatuated with it.  Her favorite animal is the “ippo” and she refuses to go to sleep without cuddling with her wooden puzzle blocks.  [...]

I tried to sneak Lewy into my apartment in a giant picnic basket.  It was a bad idea.

Threading

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Besides passing out in a potted plant at a fancy club, one of the most embarrassing things that can happen to a girl is being spotted leaving a salon with wax face. You know what I’m talking about, the tell-tale red bumps on your eyebrow and upper lip that just scream “I’m a hairy biotch!” [...]

Girls Night In

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

My super hot ex-roommate and local bread pudding expert Devon stopped by last Sunday for some good eats, gossip, and VMA commentary.  On the menu?  A mixed green salad with cucumbers, orange bell peppers, heirloom tomatoes, red onions, and grilled spiced shrimp.  We heated up some pita bead triangles with some tzazikiki sauce to round [...]

James and Mari Get Married

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

The Ocean City Beach Crew at James and Mari’s wedding!  The bride wore a beautiful off white Vera Wang gown and the groom pulled off suspenders stunningly.  The wedding was held at the brand new Mason Inn which was surprisingly an awesome venue!  The food was great and I loved the modern decor.

Rob’s action figure collection suffered slightly but unsurprisingly Superman was untouched.  This man [...]

Nilaga Baka

Friday, August 26th, 2011

I don’t know what it is about this week but it has got me craving some good old home style Filipino cooking.  Last Saturday I woke up early to make a big pot of nilaga baka or beef soup for you whiteys.  It is your standard soup with beef, carrots, potatoes, green beans and cabbage [...]

Chicken Adobo

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

I have improved my mom’s chicken adobo recipe by pan frying the skin in a skillet before cooking in its sauce.  The result?  Crispy skin, tender insides and lots of flavorful “sabo” to pour over your rice.  Masarap!

Molon Lave Vineyard

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Last Sunday, the boy and I headed down South to visit my two good friends Jessica and Casey.  The place?  Molon Lave Vineyards, a winery in Warrenton, Virginia.  The main reason we went there was to sample their famous sangria which had a lovely grapefruit flavor and was chock full of fresh summer fruit.  We [...]
