A Craft Fair for Foodies

For those who love unique, tasty, and local delights look no further – – DC’s very own Grey Market is the closest thing to a craft fair for foodies.  Grey DC is an organization that helps local food vendors connect directly with their consumers to test their wares.  All of the vendors they work with make or source their food from the Washington DC, Maryland or Virginia area and are committed to bringing local, healthy, and sustainable alternatives to the marketplace.

Last Saturday, Grey Market hosted more than 24 food vendors in a small apartment basement to dish up some of the cities best underground fare!  A $2 admission allowed each visitor entrance to the event where there was much to be tasted and sampled.  Each vendor provided their specialty product for an additional small price.

My  favorite vendors included Bulgogo, a Korean barbeque-taco concotion and Belly Full, who was serving Vietnamese pork belly sandwiches. Please note, I am not saying this because I know the proprietors of these businesses – – I am saying this because I am a fatty who loves sharing great food experiences with other people (hello, have you seen me yelp reviews?!).  I also tasted some great pulled pork from Smoking Something BBQ and a refreshing Earl Gray and peach popsicle from John and Allie’s Tea Pops.

Doesn’t this look delicious?
