How to Deal with Stress

In my family, stress is not an option.  It is simply something that my parents don’t believe in.  I have always been expected to beef up and take whatever hits life comes at me.  If I told my mom I was stressed they would laugh at me.  I guess that is what happens when your dad is a child of war / straight up G.

I guess my day-to-day problems seem pretty petty when you are talking about escaping from the Commis, scraping up enough food to feed your family, and finding a job in a place where you don’t speak the language at all.

Although a lot of my current issues can go in the #whitegirlproblem category, they are still my issues and I still have to deal with them. If I don’t, they will manifest into a physical health problem and honestly, I simply don’t have the time to deal with that! With that being said, here are my favorite things to do when I need to de-stress:

#1) Watch a funny movie – My favorites are Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, and The Devil Wears Prada

#2) Go to yoga class – I often go to yoga as a hardened, tired soul and then come back feeling like a jellyfish without a care in the world

#3) Take a nap – A well timed nap can make almost everything feel better

#4) Clean the house – Physically de-cluttering is almost the same as mentally de-cluttering

#5) Cook a nice meal – There is nothing better than creating something from scratch and sharing it with somebody you love
