Fall Fashion

I took my little brothers shopping for their new middle school wardrobe and I couldn’t help but pick up a little something for myself. I’m hoping this versatile booty will take me far and wide on a few new adventures.

Our Engagement Party

My family threw Rob and I an engagement party at Paradise Springs Winery last weekend and it could have not been more perfect.  A large storm hit the Virginia area a few days beforehand leaving my parents and myself without power.  But with a little bit of ingenuity and hard work we were able to make it work out!

Rob is a huge fan of pies so his mother ordered an assortment of twelve different pies from Mom’s Apple Pie Company  to create the pie bar of his dreams!  Everybody enjoyed all of the different flavors but it seems like their chocolate pecan pie was the resounding winner.

My mom’s homemade bean salad was a big hit with all of the vegetarians and gluten-free people attendance while all of the carnivores DEVOURED her jalapeno chicken meatballs with the quickness.  Kat’s homemade paper fans provided a welcome breeze in the 100 degree weather and Kristina’s sweet burlap sign brought the whole rustic theme together.

Simply put, my family rocks.

Before and After: Children With Swag

Kevin and Kristopher came to my house last Saturday to play Gears of War with Rob.  Unluckily for them, they ended up being a part of my evil styling experiment inspired by the Children With Swag Tumblr site.  Kevin is on the left playing my “Before” model and Kristopher is on the right.

I don’t know what I am more surprised about — how good my brother looks or the fact that he is a perfect size four in women’s clothing!

Old Town Boutique District Warehouse Sale Finds

Last week, I stopped by the Old Town Boutique District Warehouse Sale at the George Washington Masonic Memorial with my mother and sister.  It was SUPER CROWDED but the whole experience was worth it for this piece alone.  Say hello to my slightly new Marc Jacobs Wallet from Mint Condition Consignment.

Original Price: $295
Sale Price: $135

I am in lurve.  I wasn’t even planning on spending that much money but that day but it spoke to me.  Plus the price point was a-mah-zing.  Other purchases included:

Swarvoski Crystal Earrings
Original Price: $25
Sale Price: $15
Purchased from Fornash

Rabbit Fur Hat (I didn’t realize it was rabbit fur until after I bought it — sorry!)
Original Price: $45
Sale Price: $11
Purchased from Shoe Hive

All-in-all I am pretty happy with all my purchases and all of them except the earrings fell in my new “don’t buy anything unless its 40% off or more” rule that I made up.  If you are interested in checking out another sample sale,  Gilt City will be hosting one downtown this Saturday.  For more information click here.

Dress of the Day: Need a Credit Card Edition

I would never spend $400 on a dress but Kate Spade makes it so hard not to with her feminine silhouettes and fun bold prints.  Everything she designs is just perfect.

Dress of the Day: Polka Dots

I have not been to a Banana Republic store in YEARS but a quick trip last Saturday left me absolutely enthralled with their new collection.  My favorite being this black and white polka dot dress. I can totally picture myself wearing this with a khaki trench on a rainy spring day.

Large Polka Dot Dress | $130 | Purchase

Dress of the Day: Wedding Wednesday Edition

I love the sweetness that comes with tea length dresses but unfortunately I have calves bigger than Mia Hamm and Serena Williams combined.  Oh well a girl can dream…

Dress of the Day: Cute as a Button

This dress is as cute if not cuter than a panda bear hugging a puppy on a rainbow.

Dice as Nice Dress | $250 | Purchase

Dress of the Day: Suburbanette Edition

I decided to do something a little bit different and pull out a dress from the ole’ Suburbanette collection for today’s dress of the day feature.  I love this dress for its funky tribal pattern and full twirly skirt.  It took me FOREVER to purchase this dress because it is always sold out but lucky for you there is ONE left on shopruche.com.
